NPTC Level 1 in Work Based Horse Care

Are you ages 16+?
Are you interested in working with horses?
Would you like to learn more about horse Care?
Would you like to get a city of guilds recognized qualification in Horse Care?

We are offering 5 free places starting in September on a part time NPTC Level 1 award in work based horse Care as an outreach center for Bridgewater Collage.

​

These courses are suitable for anyone with an interest in horses; from school leavers wishing to get a step up onto careers ladder, to mature students wanting to expand their CV.

​

You will study a range of topics that will enable you to work effectively and safely with horses. The topics studied will include assisting with routine stable management, assisting with routine husbandry tasks, safe handling practices, recognition of tack and its use and cleaning, health & safety and developing effective working relationships. Some students may also be given the opportunity to complete ridden units. The program is based in an approved training centers so you will be learning in an industry based commercial environment.

You will need a range of GCSEs in the D - G range or basic skills at Entry Level 3. A general interest in working with horses & some practical experience is also required. Entry is also subject to a successful interview at a Bridgwater College approved training centre (Small Strides)

We accommodate learners with additional needs and specialist in working with children on the autistic spectrum.
